?da mein Schatz unbedingt einmal in die "Alcazar"-Show in Pattaya wollte, haben wir von Bangkok aus noch schnell einen 2-Tages-Abstecher nach Pattaya gemacht, und ich buchte uns dafür ins MarriottResort ein - nach dem Motto "wenn schon Pattaya, dann zumindest ins Marriott". Günstigerweise hatten die gerade noch die Visa-Promotion laufen, so dass ich schnell über Marriott.com buchte?

Das MarriottResort & Spa liegt ziemlich zentral in South Pattaya, direkt angeschlossen an das - relativ große und bekannte - Royal Garden Shopping Center (Hoteladresse: 218/2-4 M.10 Beach Road). Pro: schöne Garten- und Poolanlage, ruhige Lage, preisgünstig Kontra: sehr einfache Ausstattung, relativ wenig Komfort
...So, dass ich also öfters in Pattaya Urlaub mache, wisst ihr ja nun schon.
Dass ich dabei eigentlich das Hotel "Thai Garden Resort" bevorzuge, könnt ihr auch meinem entsprechenden Bericht ("Es muss nicht immer Sextourismus sein") entnehmen.
Aber es gibt ja in Pattaya unendlich viele Hotels und so wollten wir natürlich auch mal etwas Andres kennen lernen.
Da wir aber grundsätzlich lieber den etwas ruhigeren Teil im Norden von Pattaya bevorzugen, haben wir natürlich dort ein Hotel gebucht.
Die Lage des Hotels

Es handelt sich um das "EAST SEA RESORT", das in einer Seitenstraße der Naklua Road liegt.
Zum sehr belebten Hauptstrand von Pattaya, der Beachroad, sind es etwa 900 m.
Zum nächstgelegen Strand, dem weitaus ruhigeren "Wongamat-Strand", sind es etwa 400 m bzw. etwa 5 Minuten zu Fuß.

...Pattaya ? das schmutzige Sündenbabel schlechthin!
So wird dieser schöne Badeort am Golf von Siam leider noch immer verkannt.
Ich will auch gar nicht leugnen, dass der Sextourismus diesen Ort berühmt gemacht hat, aber Pattaya hat sich inzwischen sehr verändert. Schon acht Mal habe ich hier Urlaub gemacht und zwar immer mit der ganzen Familie und meine inzwischen 19jährige Tochter ist auch immer wieder aufs Neue begeistert. Ja sogar Oma und Opa (inzwischen 69 und 74 Jahre alt), die in den ersten Jahren sozusagen als Babysitter mitreisten, verbringen, nachdem sich nun unsere Urlaubswege getrennt haben, einmal im Jahr 3 Wochen in Pattaya.
Aus dem einstmals schmutzigen Dorf mit seinen angeblich mehr als 10.000 Prostituierten, ist ein schmucker Badeort geworden, der mehr bietet als Sextourismus. Den gibt es zwar immer noch, aber...

...ich war nun schon etliche Male auf Thailands zweitgrößter Insel, Phuket, aber bis dato immer nur im Touristen-Rummel-Ort Patong Beach... erst dieses Jahr „wagte ich mal den Versuch“, ein anderes Phuket kennenzulernen, nämlich in einem Strandresort... mehr
